Dual-Use Technology will be demystified at summit in Fredericton

Springboard is partnering with network members, the University of New Brunswick, Acadia University, Memorial University, St. Francis Xavier University to convene the Dual-Use Technology Summit in Fredericton, Feb 25-26.
The Dual-Use Technology Summit will assemble academia, industry, government and other ecosystem stakeholders to focus on technologies which can be deployed for both civilian and military applications while
The summit will provide clarity around dual-use technology and give guidance to researchers, startups and small- and medium-sized enterprises to engage with the Canadian defence system.
The event will foster meaningful conversations around innovation adoption, partnership development, and market entry within the defence sector.
The Dual-Use Technology Summit takes place at a pivotal moment for Canada’s defence and national security landscape. Canada is entering a historic period of investment, with defence spending projected to reach $48 billion dollars in 2025 to 2026 and a long-term objective of 5% of GDP.

Atlantic Canada primed for defence and dual-use sector growth
Atlantic Canada, which represents about 20% of the national aerospace and defence labour force, is well positioned to play a central role in this growth.
As the largest contributors to national research and development, universities and colleges are critical to building strong innovation, commercialization, and talent pipelines.
The Dual-Use Technology Summit is an opportunity for knowledge exchange, networking, and partnership development on these priorities that strengthen the regional defence sector. It helps orient new entrants to this growing market.
