Springboard helps StFX student launch AI sports training app

A StFX computer science graduate student has developed an app that uses artificial intelligence to optimize the performance of athletes. Mbongeni “Bo” Ndlovu developed Olyup, which analyzes an athlete’s performance and answers questions on training, game strategy and diet.

Bo drew upon his background as a business major and Olympic weightlifting coach to develop the technology. He estimates that Olyup will improve athletic productivity by 30 percent. He also sees AI-powered applications like his as the next horizon in sports training. The app was released in Beta in October, 2023.
