Shelley recognized for individual impact on start-up ecosystem
Halifax – Springboard Atlantic is pleased to share news that Volta awarded Shelley Hessian for her contributions to the start-up community in Atlantic Canada.
Shelley, an IP Counselor in in the Springboard Atlantic IP Advantage program and a long-time supporter of the region’s start up community, received the Positive Impact Individual Award during a ceremony at the Dalhousie Ocean Sciences Building in Halifax on September 20, 2023. She was one of several winners at the awards.
Ecosystem awards recognize change makers and disruptors
The Volta Ecosystem Impact Awards were launched in 2019 to acknowledge and celebrate the changemakers, community leaders and supporters who are rapidly transforming the startup ecosystem in Atlantic Canada. Shelley was recognized for developing and implementing solutions for social, cultural or environmental issues that benefit the community at large.
Before coming to Springboard, Shelley worked with Invest Nova Scotia as manager at Start-up Yard COVE in Dartmouth Nova Scotia.
The IP Advantage program assists startups in Atlantic Canada with education and funding for Intellectual Property strategy and implementation. The program is part of the Elevate IP program supported by Canadian Department of Innovation, Science, Economic Development
