Saint Mary’s students win national Enactus competition
From Saint Mary’s University News and the Springboard Content Lab
Congratulations to students from Springboard member Saint Mary’s University who have won the Enactus Canada National Exposition.
For the second year in a row, Saint Mary’s will represent Canada at the Enactus World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand. In September the student teams will compete with other teams around the world.
Enactus Canada National Exposition is a countrywide competition that recognizes innovative business ideas that have an impact in the real-world.
More than 600 students from 50 higher-education institutions gathered in Calgary to share their ideas in the competition.
Two projects making a difference here at home:
- Square Roots fights food waste and hunger by rescuing “imperfect” produce and selling it affordably across Nova Scotia.
- Alaagi™ offers a sustainable alternative to plastic packaging—turning seaweed into biodegradable wrap.
The Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre’s Business Design Manager, Meredith Drost also won the John Dobson Fellow of the Year by Enactus Canada for her dedication to advancing entrepreneurial learning and student success.
