ResearchNB launches Dual-Use Technology Challenge

ResearchNB has launched the Dual-Use Technology Challenge and is seeking proposals from New Brunswick researchers who are interested in exploring dual-use technologies.

 Dual-use technologies serve both civilian and military purposes and are seen as vital to economic stability, business innovation, and national defence.  

Funding Program Details

Applications open (1:00pm ADT): February 25, 2026

Applications close (11:59am ADT): April 16, 2026

Anticipated notice of decision date: June 5, 2026

Award Term: Up to 18 months

Award Amount: Up to $50,000

Eligibility

 The research team must demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas: aerospace, ammunition, digital systems, maintenance support, personal protection, sensors, space, specialized manufacturing, training and simulation, and uncrewed autonomous systems. 

The principal investigator must be employed at an institution listed in Appendix B of the ResearchNB Award Guidelines  

The application must include at least one partner. The PI needs to provide at least one (1) letter of support from a partner or research user. A research user refers to an individual or group who plans to implement or commercialize the resulting technology.
