Pierre Doucet is a practising licenced engineer working as Innovation Officer for the Université de Moncton’s Innovation Support Office. He is a Regulatory Compliance Expert in Residence at Dalhousie University’s Emera ideaHUB and Former Authority having jurisdiction on electrical installations at the NB Department of Justice and Public Safety. With nearly ten years of experience in regulatory enforcement, his career path is unique in that it includes many aspects of engineering from digital design and certification of equipment to management and project planning with multidisciplinary teams in applied research settings. He is listed as the inventor of two patents in Canada and the USA on direct thermal imaging techniques.
Currently, Pierre acts as an Industry Liaison at the New Brunswick Centre for Precision Medicine and is focused on the development of new value propositions for interventions in areas of digital health, smart hospital infrastructure, precision medicine, DNA sequencing as a service, and collaboration with partners in general. His priorities are linked to the Centre’s research interests towards the development of new anti-inflammatory compounds (novel micro molecules, natural products), biomarkers, liquid biopsy, biobanking, data sharing, clinical trials, and therapeutic cannabis. Notwithstanding this, Pierre has a concern for the healthcare crisis in NB which has motivated him to develop partnering opportunities in kinesiology (patient handling, falls prevention) and hospital management (nurse call).
