Cybersecurity is a critical issue in all areas of the maritime industry. Multiple control systems, protocols and standards, both onshore and offshore, sometimes operating independently, do little to build system resiliency. Adding to the risks is the advent of maritime autonomous technology and remote operations. The Fisheries and Marine Institute, in partnership with University of Plymouth and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), is hosting a seminar in St. John’s, NL to highlight and bring awareness to Canadian stakeholders of the risks of maritime cybersecurity and how to address them through collaborative education, training, and research.
