Speaker – Kushal Shah Associate & Patent Lawyer, Gowling WLG

Kushal Shah is a lawyer and registered patent agent at Gowling WLG. He works closely with patent agents in the life sciences and high-tech groups, supporting the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in biotechnology, pharmaceutical formulations, artificial intelligence, software platforms, clean technology, diagnostics, and medical devices.

As an internationally trained patent agent and lawyer, Kushal brings experience advising startups, universities, and multinational organizations. His work spans international patent protection strategies across jurisdictions such as the United States, Europe, China, the Middle East, and India.

Kushal also provides tailored IP strategies and tactical advice on infringement, litigation, licensing, patentability, freedom-to-operate opinions, commercial transactions, franchising, and valuation matters.

He holds an LLB from the University of Mumbai and an MSc in Biotechnology and has delivered numerous lectures and seminars focused on patent drafting, research, and analysis. Before joining Gowling WLG, Kushal trained as a patent agent at another Canadian-based global law firm.
