ACOA Funding Of $2.7M Goes To 7 Nova Scotia Firms

The new Liberal cabinet minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency delivered $2.7 million to seven Nova Scotia companies Monday. The money is for research and development in products and services to increase market share, “to build on competitive advantages,” Navdeep Bain, also federal minister of innovation, science and economic development, said in a news release. The firms are in the communications, clean technology and fisheries sectors. ICT company Volta Labs and the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia Incorporated, both of Halifax, received non-repayable funding for $499,000 and $223,000 respectively. The Halifax hotel reservation company b4checkin, graphic user interface firm Pantel International of Dartmouth, Nautical Seafoods Ltd. of Parkers Cove, Digby Neck’s Gidney Fisheries and the aquaculture operation Sustainable Fish Farming of Centre Burlington received between $242,000 and $500,000 each in repayable loans.
