Acadia And Dalhousie Spin-Outs Winners At Innovacorp’s I-3 Technology Competition
Acadia University spin-off company, Fenol Farm Inc. has won 1st place in its zone in Innovacorp’s I-3 Start-Up Technology Competition for its development of a technology that kills oral bacteria leading to enamel damage, cavities, gum disease and other health problems. The innovation combines plant extracts and light technology to prevent build up of dental plaque. Fenol Farms will receive $100,000 in cash and in-kind services.
Dalhousie University spin-off company, Atlantic Motor Labs, has won 2nd place in its zone and the clean technology sector prise for it’s flow-driven motor – the TurboPiston – for the oil and gas industry. The company’s motors replace existing solutions for powering equipment in drilling and production applications, offering significant cost savings, reducing waste, increasing safety, lowering greenhouse and explosive gas emissions, and reducing solid waste. Atlantic Motor Labs will receive $40,000 in cash and in-kind services for it’s second place win, and $25,000 cash for it’s sector win.
